Chapter 14 - Joseph and Mary Pledge Their Love

Whoosh! Everyone sitting under the color trees blooming rainbows in St. Joseph’s garden took a breathe as they came out of the cat’s memory. Seeing the cat’s stories was making everyone smile. Then as expected for the third time the cat’s eyes whirred and.....

Back in Nazareth, Joseph was consoling the cat. “Be quiet, small one, be quiet. You certainly woke me from a vivid dream. Now be quiet. If you’ve come to tell me that Mary was not lying, I already know that. The angel in my dream told me.”

The cat meowed and meowed in happiness, making Joseph laugh. “Come on, cat, let’s go back to Mary.” Joseph picked the cat up with his big hands. The cat found it comfortable in Joseph’s strong arms. Quickly Joseph walked through the streets of Nazareth. He came to Mary’s door and knocked quietly.

When Mary opened the door a dark cloud seemed to cover her face, but the cloud was gone when she looked Joseph. A light glowed from her eyes. Joseph tried to talk but only stuttered. Mary touched him on the shoulder and told him to come in and sit down.

Sitting down, Joseph was still stuttering and Mary tired to help him out, “Did you want to return my cat?” Mary asked him. Joseph continued to stutter and nodded his head “yes”. Mary thanked him and waited.

Joseph took a deep breath and clamed down. He told Mary about this dream. He said he had always trusted Mary and he still did. He described his dream and said it had confirmed everything Mary had said. He was sorry for not believing her and he still wanted her to marry him.

Mary cried in happiness. She told Joseph how she never thought he would believe her after the way he had left. She poured out her worries and her fears.  She told him that she believed the angel but it didn’t make her less afraid. She shared with Joseph her concerns about the baby she carried. She wondered if the world was ready for such a miraculous child.

Before long they were laughing and crying together. The cat sat on Joseph’s lap throughout the conversation.  He had seen angels and dreams lately, but the love he saw and felt between Joseph and Mary was far more real to him.

Joseph jumped up to hug Mary. He had forgotten about the cat that was crushed between them, Joseph laughed after a surprised cat yelled, “Myelp!”
